Osprey Aquatics Summer 2010 Information
We would like to welcome you to the Osprey Aquatics 2010 Summer Swim Team. It is our goal to provide an environment that fosters fun, the learning of skills and the learning of life lessons. Sports should be about the joy of participation and developing personal character and that is what the Osprey stands for. All of our practices and meets will be held at the Willow Glen Aquatics Facilities.
Osprey Aquatics is part of a five-team league called the Silicon Valley Swim League (SVSL). The summer swim team consists of 8 weeks of daily workouts, 4 Wednesday night swim meets, one weekend meet and many hours of summer fun. All of our Wedensday night meets are unscored events, with the focus on swimmer development, race skills and mechanics. We award ribbons for first to sixth place at these meets within Silver and Gold divisions. (Details about the Silver and Gold Divisions and Ribbon Placement can be found in the Time Standards link under the Summer Team tab.) This is done to afford all of our swimmers the opportunity to experience the fun and validation that can come with winning a ribbon. It is our goal that each swimmer during the course of the season should win at least one ribbon. Our championship meet is scored, and therefore it is very important that all swimmers on the team compete in this meet. All summer swimmers have the chance to score points for the team and win ribbons and trophies for themselves.
Each swimmer is required to have all paperwork filled out along with a $285.00 registration fee per swimmer. (Checks payable to Osprey Aquatics.) The cost includes a team suit, t-shirt and team swim cap. To ensure proper fitting of suits and t-shirts, we will have suit sizing at the pool during the middle of May.
Every family is responsible for working 2 Wednesday night meets, as well as one shift at SVSL Champs, which will be held on the weekend of July 24 and 25. A swim meet takes as many as 30+ people to run smoothly. This year we are offering a $100 "Buy-Out" option for those families who are unable to fulfill their meet responsibilities. You may submit the "Buy-Out" option fee with the registration form. We look forward to seeing you at the pool.
