Osprey Compete at Pacific Swimming Junior Olympic Championships

Osprey Compete at Pacific Swimming Junior Olympic Championships

Three Osprey swam at the JO’s, Nov. 30th- Dec. 2nd .  Conditions were difficult in Morgan Hill with a cold wind and rain prevailing throughout the meet.  Our athletes gained important experience in their competitive development as they learned how best to compete in such conditions.  That will serve them well going forward as they progress in their journey towards excellence.

Twelve year old Sophia Madden competed in 7 events, and was close to her best times in most.  She shined brightest in the 200 free, where she dropped almost 4 seconds to go a 2:17, and the 400 IM where she dropped a whopping 31.5 seconds from her previous short course best.  Zach Dietz, also 12, swam a full load with 7 events.  He was right on his best times across the board, improving his 50 fly with a 31.12.  Brian Leppi, having recently turned 13,   swam only the 100 breast, but he had a significant breakthrough in the event.  Blazing to a 1:07.29, Brian dropped 4.71 seconds, vaulting into the Osprey all time top 5 for 13-14 boys, tying Owen McCormick for number two.

Congratulations to the Osprey JO’s swimmers!
