Osprey Show Big Improvements at Pac Swim Sr. Champs
Eleven Osprey swam at the Dec. 7-9 Pacific Senior Championships in Walnut Creek. For many it was their first PC meet of the year since water polo ended. For others, it was the culmination of a long fall of hard training and racing at meets. The swimmers who trained all fall were shaved and tapered, and those coming off water polo had a short rest with a shave.
Factoring in how short the training cycle was for many of the swimmers, the group posted a very strong 45% of the swims as lifetime bests.
Leading the way with improved times was Sam Esbenshade, who won a gold star, going 8 for 8 of his swims as lifetime bests! Sam got 3 new JO times in the 100 breast, 1:09.32, 200 breast, 2:28.3, and 500 free, 5:17.3. Taylor Cadile improved everything she swam, with 6 lifetime bests, finaling in the 100 free and going 58.67. Sam Lichy had 6 lifetime bests, 3 new JO times and a FW time in the 100 fly, breaking a minute for the first time with a 59.65.
Max Borman finaled in the 100 fly with a best time of 55.90. Dylan McCormick had a huge drop in the finals of the 100 back, going a fast 59.61, smashing his entry time by 3.2 seconds. Gabby Doty dropped a second in her 200 free and Owen McCormick dropped .7 in his 200 IM.
Congratulations to our swimmers!
