First Osprey Soars to Olympic Trials
Congratulations to Linnea Mack who qualified for her first Olympic
Trials on Sunday December 11th in Austin Texas. Swimming at a
long course invitational the day after Junior Nationals, Linnea
posted a sizzling 26.37 in the 50 meter free to achieve the OT
standard by a mere two hundredths of a second! Reacting well
off the blocks, Linnea came up first at 15 meters, sprinting ahead
of the field in the final heat to finish first and achieve her goal
of qualifying for the USA Swimming Olympic Trials this summer in
Omaha. Linnea is the first Ospey to achieve this honor.
It capped off a tremendous meet for her. She also placed 5th
in the 50 yard free with a best time of 23.03 and won the bonus
consols of the 100 yard free, breaking the 50 second barrier for
the first time in 49.89. That time was the 3rd fastest
overall for the event.
